OutTakes: A Workshop for Young Reporters & Producers







Through the festival's opening weekend, Disposable Film Festival and TILT will be hosting a series of free workshops and panels for young people engaged in producing, editing and distributing their own media. The fun starts even before the festival with the youth documentary crew training with the Disposable Film Festival's International Artist in Residence Siobhan Clancy, kindly co-supported by the Arts Council of Ireland:

OutTakes: Point, Shoot and Rough Cut Skills for the young reporter/presenter/producer
Learn fun and fast ways to capture the best of the festival and showcase it for an international audience. Participants in this workshop will be selected to join the OutTakes Documentary Youth Crew and capture festival footage for presentation online and sharing using social media. The Youth Documentary Crew will be ages 13-20.

Matinee screening will be followed by Q&A with the filmmaker. Alex Itin, a New York-based filmmaker, writer, performance artist, and painter, was a favorite of DFF09. This program of short films shines features painstaking animation, video diaries, and dramatic literary adaptations. $6 each or both for $10

12noon: Disposable Filmmaking Workshop
Community Director at Vimeo.com, Blake Whitman watches a lot of videos, and so he knows a thing or two about what makes a good film. In this workshop, he'll go over everything from basic shooting techniques, editing styles, and instruct how to stitch photos together to create an animation (known around the interwebs as photomotion). Class starts at noon and breakfast is provided. Free!

November 6, 2008 - Screening in New York CIty! This Thursday (11.6.08) at 8pm we'll be screening selections from the 2008 DFF program as well as the world premiere of the Disposable Feature Film "Buttons" by NY filmmakers Red Bucket Films at Anthology Film Archives in New York's East Village.

Doors open at 7:30pm and tickets are $10 at the door.
